It’s All About Him

Patriot Guard Riders

By Bob Comeans

Daddy born poor with three sisters and six brothers,
Moving round and round trying to make one day to another.
Daddy’s daddy told him early on sometimes family’s not your need,
It’s all about Him, It’s not about me.

Bob found Carol there would never be another,
Never very far apart always sharing with the other.
She knew he always loved her but that he believed,
It all about Him, It’s not about me.

Daddy worked hard to make what little of his earnings,
Four kids to feed and their momma with her yearnings.
Momma loved her man she knew he lived and breathed,
It’s all about Him, It’s not about me.

Lil brother got in trouble Daddy said no son not tonight,
You’re a bigger man than I am I love you too much not to fight.
Brother paused he knew how his daddy would always be,
It’s all about Him, It’s not about me.

The only time Daddy ever broke Momma’s heart was when he had to tell her,
Their teenage son had been taken by an unsolved senseless murder.
They shared their screams an anguish unrelieved,
It’s all about Him, It’s not about me.

She was her daddy’s daughter she was always proud to tell,
Three years running she shared with him and he taught her well.
To him she was That Girl who cared and then again would leave,
It’s all about Him, It’s not about me.

Daddy finally got his Patriot Guard escort,
A cold war Navy man had lived on within his heart.
A flag from a grateful nation and seven rifles firing three,
It’s all about Him, It’s not about me.

Rest assured now with momma and lil brother a family trinity,
A son graveside speaking of his father’s eternity.
Let us bow, give thanks, and pray,
It’s all about Him, It’s not about me.

I’m glad you shared it with me. I think my father would’ve enjoyed your stories. Thank you for telling them.

wow this is very moving. i cannot even imagine how military families deal with the immeasurable amount of emotions and demands it asks of them. God bless you and your family. and THANK YOU for the service.

Your quite welcome. Thank you for stopping by reading my story. Sometimes they are as emotional to write as they are to read. Bob
