At the Window, She Was Always There

Windows

By Bob Comeans

She was always there…

Whether I was walking to my first day of kindergarten, my last day of high school, driving off to work, or moving across the country.

She was always there…

Standing at the picture window with her hand raised, a smile on her face, waving goodbye as we left one more time.

She was always there…

Walking down the driveway, meeting my friends, headed to the high school bus stop.

She was always there…

Too cool to raise my hand and wave to her, I would lag behind the group, slip my hand behind  my back, and wiggle my fingers for her goodbye.

She was always there…

Waving goodbye, was a special way of her life.

She was always there..

For my sons, my wife, my family…at the window.

I am always there.
